I’m Dunya Artal, a young Afghan artist living in New York. My journey began in Kabul, where I was inspired to create vibrant murals that advocate for women’s rights. After fleeing the Taliban regime—a move that saved my life and nourished my artistic spirit—I am now dedicated to using my art as a powerful tool for change. Art has always been my passion, and it became a lifeline as I witnessed the heartbreaking restrictions imposed on women in Afghanistan. The closing of all girls' schools and the silencing of countless voices only fueled my desire to fight for justice and equality.
My mission is clear: to raise awareness about the challenges women and girls face, especially in conflict zones like Afghanistan. I started my organization as a platform to amplify these voices, advocating for women’s rights and working tirelessly to support refugee children who have been uprooted from their homes. My goal is to empower these young girls by providing them with the resources, education, and opportunities they rightfully deserve. I believe that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the potential to dream big and achieve greatness.
Through my artwork, I aim not only to inspire but also to spark conversation about vital issues affecting women and children around the world. Each piece I create carries a message of hope and resilience, a reminder that change is possible when we come together for a common cause. I invite you to join me on this journey.
